Callback
Leave your number.
We'll call you back.
You tell us on the phone what it's about — we tell you whether we can do it and what we need for a quote. Often a photo with approximate dimensions is enough. We currently have free capacity for short-notice orders and first-article samples.
Callbacks on weekdays 7 am – 4 pm. We use your number solely for this callback and do not store it beyond that.
Services
Powder or paint — decided by the part, not by the equipment
Most coaters master only one of the two and recommend accordingly. We have both processes in-house, plus degreasing, priming and oven drying. Your part does not leave our premises between delivery and collection — and you get the recommendation that suits your part, not the one that suits whichever booth is free.
Vapour degreasing
A coating is only as good as what lies beneath it. We degrease fully automatically in a closed solvent circuit — not water-based.
- Reaches blind holes, threads, cavities and undercuts
- Parts come out dry, no drying time, no water spots
- Also for drawing grease, cutting oil and anti-corrosion grease
- Plus: film removal, masking to drawing, priming, filling
Powder coating
Two manual spray booths on an automatic chain conveyor with continuous curing oven. The economical route for recurring series.
- Series in continuous flow — 1,000 parts in one day are feasible
- Small batches and one-offs just the same
- Fresh powder on request, no reclaimed powder
- All RAL and NCS colours, textured and effect finishes
Wet painting
Five spray booths with environmentally friendly oil-curtain extraction, plus cleanroom and large spray booth. For everything powder can't do.
- Temperature-sensitive materials and plastics
- Effect finishes, two-coat systems, custom colours matched to a sample
- Masked parts, paint-free inner surfaces, threads
- Filling work and surface correction
Pre-treatment in detail
The solvent goes where no brush can reach
A wash basin cleans surfaces. A vapour degreases geometries. The difference shows in every blind hole.
- Step 01Vaporise
In the sump of the unit, the solvent is heated to boiling point. It rises as vapour and fills the working zone.
- Step 02Condense
The cold part is lowered into the vapour. The vapour condenses as liquid on the part — on every surface it reaches, and it reaches every one.
- Step 03Dissolve
The condensate dissolves oil, grease and drawing compounds and runs off downwards with them. No pressure, no mechanics, no edges left in the shadow.
- Step 04Recover
In the sump, the solvent is distilled and flows back into the circuit clean. The part warms up to vapour temperature and is dry when it comes out.
Material restrictions: Some plastics and elastomers do not tolerate solvent. Resinified residues, mill scale and old coatings are not removed by degreasing — that requires blasting or pickling beforehand. We clarify both before the first batch.
Unit: closed, with cooling zone and freeboard area, fully automatic cycle, operated in accordance with the 2. BImSchV (German emission-control ordinance).
Powder coating in detail
The powder finds the edge by itself
In powder coating, it is not the pressure of the gun that does the work but an electric field. That is why powder wraps around edges — exactly where wet paint is thinnest and corrosion sets in first.
- Step 01Hanging
The part is attached to the rack so that it is securely earthed and drains cleanly. Where the contact sits, a spot remains uncoated — we agree the hanging points with you in advance.
- Step 02Charging
In the gun, the powder is electrostatically charged. The earthed part attracts the particles; they follow the field lines and settle on averted surfaces and edges too.
- Step 03Curing
In the continuous curing oven, the powder melts, flows into a closed film and cross-links chemically. What matters is the temperature in the part, not in the oven — thick parts take longer than thin ones.
- Step 04Inspection
After cooling, we check coating thickness and appearance. Only then does the series continue along the conveyor.
Advantages: solvent-free, mechanically far more resistant than wet paint, one application instead of several coats, clean edge coverage, consistent coating thickness across the entire series.
Material restrictions: The part must be electrically conductive and withstand the curing temperature — plastics, electronics and heat-sensitive assemblies are ruled out. Deep inside corners shield the electric field and end up with a thinner coat; there we recommend wet paint. Custom colours only pay off above a minimum quantity.
Wet painting in detail
When the part must not go into the oven
Wet paint is the route for everything that temperature, geometry or colour requirements keep out of the powder line. The build-up is done in layers, each with its own function.
- Step 01Masking
Fits, threads and sealing surfaces are taped off or plugged according to the drawing. This step determines a large part of the price — the clearer your specification, the more accurate the costing.
- Step 02Priming
The adhesion primer is matched to the material: steel, aluminium, galvanized steel and plastics each need a different system. This is where corrosion protection comes from, not from the topcoat.
- Step 03Application
The topcoat is applied in several passes with flash-off times in between. The booth's oil curtain captures the overspray so it doesn't fall back onto the part as dust.
- Step 04Drying
Depending on the system, the paint dries in air or in the oven at moderate temperature. Two-component systems cross-link chemically and only reach their final hardness once the reaction is complete.
Advantages: any colour and any effect, even in very small quantities, low temperatures for sensitive materials, plastics and mixed assemblies in one pass, very thin coats, repairable. In the cleanroom spray booth for parts where a single inclusion means a reject.
Points to note: mechanically more sensitive than powder, more operations and therefore more expensive for large series, longer lead time due to flash-off and drying times.

What we have here
is rare in Berlin
There are plenty of coaters. Cleanroom, large parts up to 3 × 5 m and a powder line with continuous curing oven under one roof — that is the combination that brings clients here from all over the city.

Frequently asked questions
What clients want to know
What is your minimum quantity?
One part — for private customers too. For single parts and very small quantities, the set-up costs determine the unit price; from around 300 parts, powder coating runs over the chain conveyor and the unit price drops significantly. A photo with approximate dimensions is often enough for us to give a price; series are costed on the basis of the drawing.
How large can a part be?
Our large spray booth measures 3 × 5 m and is used for spraying and drying. This lets us handle parts that are too large for most Berlin coaters. For critical dimensions, we check in advance using your drawing whether hanging and handling are feasible.
What is the difference between powder and wet paint for my part?
Powder coating is more economical for recurring metal parts, mechanically more robust and solvent-free — but it requires curing temperature. Wet paint is the choice for temperature-sensitive materials, plastics, very thin coats, special effects and repairs. If you are unsure, send us the part or the drawing; we'll tell you what suits it.
Can paint-free surfaces, threads and fits be left uncoated?
Yes. Masking to drawing is part of our standard scope. State in your enquiry which surfaces are critical to function — that belongs in the costing, not in a renegotiation.
How quickly will I get a quote?
Within 24 hours on working days. If details are missing, we call you rather than give an estimate that won't hold up later.
What is the fastest way to reach you?
Call us on 030 61401555, weekdays from 7 am to 4 pm. If you don't have time for a call right now, leave your number above and we'll call you back. Drawings and photos are best sent by email to mail@herrmannlack.de — we can usually cost the job straight away from those.
Do you also coat for private customers?
Yes, gladly. Bicycle frames, furniture frames, railings, stove parts, wheel rims, a single object from your own workshop — bring it along. It is coated in the same booths, with the same material and in the same quality as for our industrial customers.
The quickest way is a short call and a photo by email. We'll then tell you what's possible and give you a price.
Can I drop off and collect the parts myself?
Yes. We are on Gitschiner Straße right by Hallesches Tor, in the middle of Kreuzberg — much quicker for you to reach than a coater out of town, and you save yourself the drive round the ring road. Or use our pickup and delivery service in Berlin and Brandenburg.
